He sounds like a good guy. Talk to him about it. He'll either tell you he feels the same way or not. If he say he doesn't, obviously you two weren't meant for each other. It's happened to me quite a few times as well. I also have self esteem issues. And normally once i'm out of a relationship where the girl is not telling me these things, or I'm chasing after or with a girl that is completely wrong for me, my eyes will be completely opened up because well, the person that is perfect for you is 99% of the time right in front of your eyes, practically screaming how perfect they are for you.
