Whistle blower Act Am I Protected...Please Help?

I currently work for an employer who has not only violated my privacy of my confidential information but also a few other employees. A few months ago I was up for a promotion, I had gone through many interviews and not heard anything back. During that time my spouse and I were at a neighborhood party that a senior executive was at. Unbeknownst to me, this executive confronted my wife and told her I did not get the job before I even knew. My wife obviously very upset and told other folks. As you can imagine this entire party knew before me that I did not get the job, and I wasn't even told until I went to management and finally was told I did not get the job. This has brought on incredible embarrassment and humiliation for my family. This executive has also knowingly given out other confidential information to me regarding other associates who are under investigation by the company. This has put me in a very awkward position and now I am worried I am going to be let go. What can I do, I can get sworn statement from people in the neighborhood that this has occurred. I need to know my legal option...please help as this is a billion dollar company.
